High color impact is what Dandy Man Color Wheel® Rhododendron is all about. The flower blossoms go through many color phases throughout the season and then when it's done blooming, it still has handsome leathery leaves which are evergreen and disease resistant. This shrub starts out producing lipstick-red buds and opening to reveal big, ruffled flowers with deep pink undersides and soft pink insides. The blooms then age to a pure, clean white before falling off. In late spring as the plant is going through its bloom cycle, you'll see all three at once! It doesn't require any special pruning either, but the best time to prune is in spring after blooming, and just to shape the plant or remove any dead growth. Rhododendrons like azaleas prefer a very acidic, well-drained soil, so a good layer of bark mulch does a lot to seal in moisture and keep the roots happy as they prefer.
