Queen Nectarine has soft peach flowers that are held on mauve calyxes. The calyxes or (sepals that enclose the petals and form a protective layer around a flower in bud) hold their color after the plant stops blooming, extending interest into fall. Royal Raspberry agastache produces rosy purple flowers with burgundy calyxes. This is a long-blooming, tall perennial that will also be the gathering spot for butterflies and hummingbirds! The flowers and foliage are aromatic too and extremely helpful in repelling mosquitios and other bugs in the garden. Hummingbird mint is drought tolerant after establishment and is a fantastic perennial for rock gardens xeric gardening!
