Just tuck this butterfly magnet into the front of your border or perennial garden or your sunny patio containers and enjoy the show! At 12-18" tall, it's highly versatile now and the aromatic foliage can be useful in deterring mosquitos and other pests. From mid through late summer, this perennial showases fuchsia purple flowers and they attract scores of hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees to the garden. Although this is a true dwarf variety in overall size, the flowers are the same size as large varieties and they measure a full 2½-3" across. Bee Balm traditionally blooms midsummer, but Leading 'Leading Lady Plum' from the Leading Lady Series is the forefront leader blooming in early summer, flowering on compact, well-behaved dark green foliage. The magenta purple blossoms are packed with nectar for all pollinators and the aromatic foliage is natrally deer resistant. No worry for this shorter, earlier blooming monarda to move around the garden bed. It stays where you plant it!
