Green Velvet is a naturally compact, rounded boxwood that has outstanding cold hardiness and dark glossy leaves. It makes a reliable backdrop or structural element in the garden as it keeps its beautiful green foliage all year even in the harshiest winters. It's good for low hedges, borders, foundation plantings, or even container gardening. It works in both formal gardens and more natural settings. It doesn't demand constant pruning, or it can be sheared into formal shapes (hedges, topiaries) quite easily. Once established, it tolerates occasional dryness though regular watering is still best! It retains good color throuh winter and doesn't fully "bronze out" even in harsh conditions. Also, it's deer resistant! Green Velvet has one several awards and quite noticeably the Missouri botantical Garden Plant of Merit and with the Pennsylvania Horicultural Society Gold Medal Plant Award!
