This new American introduction refuses to die back in winter, tolerates extreme heat and humidity without melting out, resists rot, and stands up to other foliar diseases that can make Lavender a challenge to grow. In other words, it conquers all the stumbling blocks that have held lavender back in gardens across the country! Its prized bright purple-blue flowers from July to October are very aromatic with high oil content. Its soothing, relaxing fragrance is universally accepted by men, women and children. It repels so many pests inside the home and in the garden and even more now with its attractive year round foliage that is also highly aromatic! If you have a walkway or driveway, imagine lining it with Phenomenal as they grow about 2-3 feet tall and wide. Each collection does a 12 foot border with the least amount of work imaginable.

It is one of the most popular perennial flowering plants across the globe and has been for many years. But, most varieties of lavender native to the UK or France are not Phenomenal! Shear back and remove only 1/3 of the plant in spring to rejuvenate new growth. The foliage will take on a silver-grey appearance throughout the winter season, but will remain evergreen even in the harshiest winters. It will become woody and you may need to remove some dead wood in early spring. Reframe from dividing this woody perennial though. This plant will even benefit from a gravel mulch as it prefers a dry, well-draining soil bed as opposed to an overly moist one.
